Our Mission

Stand Down of North Jersey is a 501 C3 Nonprofit New Jersey corporation. This organization is staffed entirely by volunteers with assistance from VA employees and the NJ National Guard, every year we run a one day event to assist homeless and needy Veterans and their Families. The event is held in October and this year’s event will be on Saturday, October 10th from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. It will be held at the John F. Kennedy Recreation Center, 211 West Kinney Street, Newark, NJ.

Ensuring basic needs are available to our most vulnerable and disenfranchised homeless Veterans

At this event Veterans and their Families will be assisted by a wide variety of Federal, State and Local Agencies who will address the veterans physical, educational, employment and personal needs by allowing the veterans to access service providers.

Individual volunteers, veterans’ organization, social service providers and the National Guard will provide personnel and equipment to support the effort. Donations of clothing blankets and other items provided primarily by the Army Depot will be distributed to Veterans. Donated food and foods purchased by donations will be prepared and served by the National Guard.

Services that will be available to the veterans such as VA Benefit counseling, PTSD information, Medical Health information, Welfare, Social Security, Food Stamps, Addiction information, Housing information, Medical information, Employment information, Unemployment information, Haircuts, Clothing, Food and Provisions.
